India recorded 2,68,833 recent COVID-19 cases and 402 fatalities within the final 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare mentioned on Saturday.
The recent infections are 4,631 greater than yesterday. On Friday, India logged 2,64,202 recent COVID-19 cases. With the addition of new cases, the whole cases of coronavirus within the nation rose to three,68,50,962 together with 14,17,820 energetic cases.
Active cases account for 3.85 per cent of the whole cases. Of the whole infections reported until date, 6,041 cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 have been detected up to now which is a rise of 5.01 per cent since yesterday. As many as 16,13,740 checks had been performed within the final 24 hours whereby a day by day positivity charge of 16.66 per cent was noticed.
Further, 70.07 crore complete checks to detect the presence of the virus in people have been performed up to now in which a weekly positivity charge of 12.84 per cent was noticed.
However, the dying toll of these contaminated with the virus reached 4,85,752 with 402 extra fatalities, the health ministry mentioned. Also, 1,22,684 new recoveries had been reported within the final 24 hours thereby taking the whole tally to three,49,47,390.
The restoration charge is at present at 94.83 per cent. India has, in the meantime, upscaled its vaccine drive. 156.02 crore vaccine doses have been administered up to now below the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
